According to regular Gallup opinion polls, more than 40% of Americans believe God created humans, in more or less our present form, at a given point in time nwithin the past 10,000 years. That is more than 120 million people in a – for the time being at least – First World country who are creationists and therefore deniers of evolution. Even more worryingly, of the recent Republican presidential candidates, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are all avowed creationists.
