When Dr Simon Moroney returned home recently, he visited his alma mater, Cambridge High School, and gave a talk about his job. He noticed a lot of students wearing badges. "They were awards for sport or academics. We never had anything like that [when I was there]. In my day, badges might not have been so well regarded by other students. I thought it was good that students were now able to wear their badges with pride." Moroney has notched up a few not­able pieces of metal himself.
