The story of how a flight from Melbourne to Wellington had been turned back because of an extremely drunk 58-year-old New Zealand female passenger featured on two local news websites recently. As a result of the incident, she subsequently pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on a flight, and assault. Stuff.co.nz headlined the story “Granny’s mid-air attack” and nzherald.co.nz had “Drunken grandmother sends NZ-bound flight back to Australia”.
