A fascinating documentary from 1983 currently getting plenty of plays at NZ On Screen looks at the boom in demolition and construction in Wellington in the 70s and 80s, in large part driven by a demand to make buildings earthquake resistant.

It followed an official report that identified more than 200 city buildings as earthquake risks.

Includes property developer Bob Jones on “the capital gains goldrush” – and its very own “hometown boomtown” jingle.
