While Maurice Williamson is getting global garlands for his “incredible” speech in the marriage equality debate – see, for example, Gawker and HuffPo – his boss has had one of his mawkish moments celebrated, in BuzzFeed’s selection of the “15 Most Ridiculous World Leaders Of All Time”.

In the company of the likes of Julia Gillard, Kevin Rudd and Boris Johnson, Key earns his place “For thinking a three-way handshake is somehow possible”, explains Dave Stopera.

(Update, May 3: Key has also made, naturally, the BuzzFeed list of “The most awkward moments in handshake history”)

It comes with this Gif, which captures the prime minister’s main-age a trois from the rugby World Cup final:

This repetitive obsession with John Key's handshake shows a certain desperation when it comes to pulling him down. Find something more important.
