Gerry Brownlee was not minicing his words in an interview with Christchurch daily The Press published this morning.

The minister for earthquake recovery told the paper: “We’re getting into the sort of zone of, frankly, The Press again being the enemy of recovery. Happy for you to put that in the paper because I know a lot of people think it.”
It’s safe to say, however, that he wasn’t intentionally echoing one of the most infamous political leaders of recent times. Here’s one Richard Nixon, offering a bit of advice to his friend Henry Kissinger in 1972, albeit with a lower-case “p”:
