That near-ubiquitous 1957-designed sans-serif font has achieved a lot beyond documents and signage. It has its own movie. It inspired a rather good Google April fool gag. And now it comes in a bottle.
A limited-edition, sort-of-novelty offering from the Californian “creative collective” Guts & Glory, this unlikely liquid tribute to the typeface allows you to “breathe in the distilled modernism of pure water”, notes David Griner at Ad Week.
Yes: pure water.
As the promotional site explains, “This typeface was to have no intrinsic meaning, allowing the content to convey the message … It is in this spirit that we have created the ultimate Modernist perfume – a scent distilled down to only the purest and most essential elements to allow you, the content, to convey your message with the utmost clarity. Air. Water. You.”
If Helvetica smells of nothing, then Comic Sans, presumably, smells like this.
