War of the Fair Go former frontmen gets dirty

The handbags have been swinging for some months between Fair Go alumni Brian Edwards and Kevin Milne.

Edwards questioned Milne’s endorsement of a carpet company. Milne arched his back.

Edwards said Fair Go, a show he invented several hundred years ago, was “out of control”. Milne said Edwards was “nuts”, and “attacking [his] own babies”.

For all the apparent animus, however, there has been a good-humoured tone to the whole thing.

But that may not survive the latest salvo on Edwards’ site.

“Seems my old friend and former journalism student Kevin Milne is losing his spelling ability along with his hair!” snorts an item on Brian Edwards’ blog.

Posted by his wife and business partner Judy Callingham, it is accompanied by a snapshot of a billboard depicting a supersize Milne singing the praises of that carpet company with the words, “If your about to buy carpet, these guys are worth talking to.”

This is going to have to go to New Zealand’s highest court of celebrity arbitration: charity boxing.

Since writing, Milne has commented under the Callingham post, "Oh shit! I’m heading up with my ladder and test pot of white. How do you spell carpet anyway?"
