PIERRE BOULEZ: MÉMORIALE and DÉRIVES 1 & 2, Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, Daniel Kawka (conductor) (Naive). Mémoriale, with its fulsomely low flute sound, and the equally brief Dérive 1, with its canonic structure of sonorities, are homogenous pleasantries compared with the complex heterogeneity of Dérive 2, a work-in-progress that assumed its final He got rhythm 51-minute shape in 2006.
