The moment New Zealand has been waiting for. What’s that – it hasn’t? Oh well, it keep me amused. An extra-long Fish Fry with tracks from all but one of Nick Bollinger and Jim Pinckney’s 20 best albums of 2012 (about which you can read full details here) and then, as we say in Take Five, a handful of other things you might like to consider. Or to be precise, tracks from the following album highlights of the year (in no particular order and far from a mere handful):

Blunderbuss, Jack White

Twins, Ty Segall

Ark, Halls

Elastic Wasteland, SJD

Beams, Matthew Dear

Give You the Ghost, Polica

Born to Die, Lana Del Rey (sorry)

Sun, Cat Power

The Lion’s Roar, First Aid Kit

Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance, Patterson Hood

Blues Funeral, Mark Lanegan Band

Banga, Patti Smith

Tramp, Sharon Van Etten

Old Ideas, Leonard Cohen

Life is People, Bill Fay

Gouache, Jacky Terrasson

Bouger Le Monde!, Staff Benda Bilili

Sebenza, LV

Cancer for Cure, El-P

R.A.P. Music, Killer Mike

Channel Orange, Frank Ocean

Kaleidoscope Dream, Miguel

If you still have hearing left after listening to that last one, here’s the one album from Nick and Jim’s list not available on Spotify:
