He certainly doesn’t make for easy listening and is most likely to be remembered as a divisive vocalist and political firebrand, but Mark Stewart can certainly assemble a phenomenal guest list. Among the contributors to The Politics of Envy, his sixth solo album since the dissolution of the Pop Group in 1981, are a host of seminal punk and postpunk figures, including PiL’s Keith Levene, the Raincoats’ Gina Birch, the Slits’ Tessa Pollitt, Der Plan, Richard Hell and all of Primal Scream.
