Interesting take on a wonderful film version that adds greatly to the twenty first century version of Tolkien's world that Wingnut are bringing us. Nothing wrong at all in my view in taking elements of Middle Earth history as detailed in the Hobbit, LOTR appendices, silmarillion and lost tales and bringing them into the story. Tolkien did this himself all the time.
Jackson would have done the work a disservice by only reproducing The Hobbit as a narrative.Wrong usage of print_flagging_link().

Perhaps David Larsen should have split his review into three parts. It reads long, indulgent and overly detailed just as he depicts part one of the Hobbit adaptation.Wrong usage of print_flagging_link().
