It pretty much invented over-obsessive fandom and TV cult status in the 1960s and was revived to a nation wailing with grateful joy in 2005. Now, classy actor Michael Gambon and Welsh "popera" singer Katherine Jenkins have joined a long list of interesting guest stars - and Doctor Who fans - to star in this ridiculously long-running series that's more of a British institution than Saturday night down the bingo hall.
