The sediment cores from beneath the Ross Ice Shelf, a floating extension of Antarctica’s ice sheets, record climatic changes over the past few million years. So, if Cape Roberts was a window on the Antarctic ice sheet’s behaviour in the first half of its life, this next project should tell us about the rest.
