Creating an easy-care garden in dry conditions

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We all know we’re going to end up that way sometime, but we don’t want our garden to beat us to it. A dry garden can be approached in several ways. The first is synthetic turf and concrete, otherwise known as the low-maintenance garden. The downfall here is that although it’s still an outdoor space, it’s certainly not a garden. Synthetic turf may look like lawn, but as it’s not a plant, it should be listed as a permeable paved surface. A garden is a place to spend pleasurable time engaging with plants; removing them robs us of its most tantalising element. ...
