I can happily hang out in any garden centre, but I recently rediscovered one of those horticultural gems for which I would readily travel from Auckland to Christchurch. And, of course, domestic travel makes it possible to request a lap belt and squeeze a plant or two onto the plane home. Texture Plants was started in 1994 by brothers Tim and Hamish Prebble, who had $1000 when they built a greenhouse on family land to grow perennials for the Riccarton market at the height of the reign of country gardens.
