Office workers eat 225 fewer calories of chocolate when it is placed 2m away, rather than on their desks. The proportion of customers who buy ice-cream in a cafeteria decreases from 30% to 14% when the chiller lid is closed rather than open and they buy fewer sweets and potato chips if they have to go to a separate line to pay for them. The further away a salad bar is from dining tables, the less salad diners eat. And we eat less when food comes in multiple small packages rather than a single large one.
